A 5-Step Evening Skincare Routine for Glowing Skin

Great skin comes from routine care and it’s essential to have a consistent evening skincare routine.

We all know how it feels to wake up after we’ve slept in our makeup or we haven’t taken the time to prep our face before bed. Your skin feels dry and minor lines and wrinkles seem even more prominent.

To get your skin glowing and hydrated follow our 5-step nighttime skincare routine. We’re sharing a few of our favorite products as well, but be sure to let us know yours in the comments below.

Step One – Cleanse

In order to build onto any of the next steps, you’ll need to have a clean and clear palette to work with. Remove any makeup from your face using a gentle makeup remover like micellar water. We love this micellar water from Bioderma.

Follow makeup removal with a gentle, non-drying face wash like Cetaphil’s Gentle Skin Cleanser. This will remove impurities and built-up dirt and oil from the day, while still protecting your skin’s moisture barrier.

Step Two – Exfoliate

Again we want to use a gentle exfoliant that will protect your skin while still removing dead skin cells. This step only needs to be done once or twice a week. Daily exfoliation can leave your skin stripped of moisture.

We recommend Dermalogica’s Microfoliant.

Step Three – Tone

Toners should be used after cleansing but before applying moisturizers. They help to clear your pores and balance the Ph level of your skin. You want to make sure to use an alcohol-free toner.

We recommend Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel Toner if you have oilier skin and The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution if you have sensitive skin.

Step Four – Face Mask

Using a face mask a few times a week will add great hydration to your skin. We recommend sheet masks because they’re easy to use and you can purchase multiple types till you figure out which one is your favorite and best for your skin.

We love the Dr Jart+ Hydra Solution face masks as well as Soothing Hydra Solution face masks.

Stem Five – Moisturize

Finally, finish your routine with a serum or moisturizer that will add extra hydration.

We love CeraVe’s Skin Renewing Retinol Serum and their Skin Renewing Night Cream.

You could also use a Vitamin-C serum or another type of night cream that boosts hydration. We love a creamy, thicker cream for overnight – since you won’t be adding a layer of makeup to it, it’s okay to have a heavier layer of moisturizer.

We hope this list helps you develop your own evening skincare routine and that you have some new ideas for products that will refresh and rejuvenate your skin.
